Concept Design
The Ascea municipality announced a competition for a museum to host an exhibit of its art collections, especially the findings coming from the Velia archaeological site.
The project featured the design of a new building on three levels (basement, ground floor, and first floor), hosting the following functional areas:
Museum area: permanent installations, temporary installations, exhibitions;
Hospitality area: welcome, leisure, communication;
Research and Study area: cultural activities, library, multimedia classrooms;
Administrative area: management, technical, control;
Conservation area: relics deposit, restoration laboratory;
Implant sector.
The entire museum stretched out along a path, a junction line between the Fiumarella stream and the excavations of Velia, passing through the archeological park.
